A two-year associates degree includes studies on general educational subjects which can count as credits towards a regular Bachelor’s Degree if you wish to further pursue your studies at a later date.

After that, you should contact the school for more information and, once you have found the right college, begin the admission process.

Many colleges offer the possibility of getting a scholarship or grant, with the Pell Grant also available for those wishing to study in the medical assistant field. It is also possible to apply for the federally funded Stafford loans should you need. If you are in need of additional financial help in order to begin your studies you need to find a college that supports this type of funding. Certification is also recommended if you wish to pursue your career, thus when narrowing down your choice of college you should look for an accredited college that offers certification. Attending an accredited college will also allow you to change colleges and have all credits transferred should you need to do so.

Most of the training received during the first part of your training will be undertaken at the college where you  study subjects ranging from First Aid, anatomy and basic patient care to record keeping, accounting, medical billing and insurance.
